Christenings (baptisms)

Baptism is when we welcome a person into the church and the promises made before God mark the beginning of his or her Christian pilgrimage. It is a time of great joy and celebration, and the service is informal and fun, but serious at the same time. Baptisms can take place in any of the eleven beautiful churches of the Parish of South Lafford, either in a regular service, or in a separate family celebration.

If you would like your child to be baptised, or would like to be baptised yourself, we would love to hear from you.  Please email the Deanery Administrator on admin@sleafordparishchurch.co.uk

There is no charge for a baptism.

Confirmation

​

Confirmation is a special church service in which a person confirms the promises that were made when they were baptised. If you were baptised at a christening when you were a child, your parents and godparents made these promises on your behalf. As a young person or adult, you may be ready to affirm these promises for yourself and commit your life to following Jesus Christ. At a confirmation service, you make these promises for yourself. Your friends and family as well as the local Christian community will be there to promise to support and pray for you.

Marriages

​

Getting married in a church is an opportunity to make this most joyful and sacred commitment to your life-long partner before God. You can be married in any of the eleven beautiful churches of the Parish of South Lafford if you live in or have a connection with the parish.
